Perugu Charu (Andhra style Khadi)

Perugu Charu is a traditional recipe made in typical Andhra homes and it is usually favorite of one and all. Still it is rarely seen in any recipe books because it is passed on from generation to generation. It is a pacca home-style recipe not one you expect to find in restaurants.

Ingredients you need to make this home-style recipe:-
Yogurt- 2 cups
Finely sliced red onion- 1/3 cup
Green chillies- 2(chopped)
Salt- to taste

For tadka (Seasoning):-
Oil- 1 Tbsp
Whole red chillies- 2
Mustard seeds- 1/4 Tsp
Cumin seeds- 1/4 Tsp
Channa dal- 1 Tsp
Urad dal- 1/2 Tsp
Turmeric- 1 pinch
Curry leaves- 4 or 5

Procedure:-
Add 2 cups of yogurt to a bowl. Add half cup water, salt, onion and green chillies. To a hot pan add oil, whole red chillies, mustard seeds, cumin seeds, channa dal, urad dal, turmeric and curry leaves. Add this seasoning to yogurt once the mustard seeds pop. Serve with rice or roti.
